Clarence Seedorf, a former player and manager in the Dutch professional football league, has converted to Islam after learning more about the faith from his partner Sophia Makramati.
Seedorf is recognised as one of the most successful players in the history of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League, having won the competition with three different teams for the first and only time.
Because of his Iranian acquaintance, the player has converted to Islam.
“A special thanks to all the lovely comments in celebration of me joining the Muslim family,” he posted on his Instagram account after converting to Islam. I’m overjoyed to be joining all of my brothers and sisters throughout the world, especially my sweet Sophia, who has taught me more about Islam. I didn’t alter my name and will continue to go by Clarence Seedorf, as given to me by my parents! I’m offering my heartfelt greetings to everyone on the planet.”
