Apple released the iPhone 12 series in 2020 without a charger or EarPods included in the packaging. The corporation has given numerous explanations for the decision, and now a fresh study claims that it saved the brand billions of dollars.
Many people assumed that the Cupertino-based corporation was just attempting to save money by eliminating the charger and EarPods, despite the company’s official statement that it was doing so for environmental reasons. It further claimed that eliminating the two components resulted in smaller packing boxes, allowing for a 70 percent increase in the number of devices that could fit on a shipping pallet. As a result of the increased boxing, Apple was able to ship more iPhones at once.
This would allow it to cut its annual carbon emissions by 2 million metric tonnes, or the equivalent of taking 500,000 cars off the road, according to the business. According to a storey in the Daily Mail, Apple may have saved over 5 billion Pounds so far by eliminating the charger and EarPods from the package, which is roughly 6.5 billion US Dollars. To put it another way, the business may have left the basic accessories out of the package to offset the cost of the new 5G modem on its iPhones.
Notably, decreasing the retail box also implies that the corporation may save roughly 40% on shipping expenses. As a result, buyers should be able to get a better deal on the phone. Customers who purchase EarPods or AirPods and the charging brick separately are now bringing in more money for the company. It will thus come as no surprise if it was able to save such a significant sum in only two years.
