The Federal Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the Rs. 8.280 billion Ramzan Relief Package, which would give subsidies on 19 basic commodities.
On Tuesday, the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) met under the chairmanship of Shaukat Tarin, the Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue.
According to the details, the government will provide a subsidy of Rs. 2.534 billion for atta (flour), Rs. 750 million for sugar, Rs. 4.050 billion for ghee, Rs. 300 million for oil, Rs. 30 million for dal channa, Rs. 10 million for dal moong washed, Rs. 30 million for white gramme, Rs. 50 million for baisen, Rs. 20 million for dates, Rs. 25 million for rice bas
Since 1991, Pakistan’s Utility Stores Corporation has been spreading the government-approved Ramzan package across its network, with a specific focus on the poor. Historically, USC stores across Pakistan have sold nineteen (19) necessary commodities at subsidised costs.
Additionally, USC negotiates better supplier discounts and has been able to provide lower costs on over 1,000 goods. People expect special discounted rates from USC retailers during Ramzan since the Ramzan Relief Package is a regular feature, which contributes to a substantial rise in traffic, ranging from 150,000 to 500,000 customers each day.
The USC administration also attempts to guarantee that commodities are available across its network in order to provide maximum aid to the deserving section. The Pakistan Utility Stores Corporation is working hard this year to make preparations for the impending Holy Month of Ramzan. The proposed Ramzan Relief Package-2022 is based on real Ramzan sales and the present subsidies on necessary commodities granted under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package-2020.
Given the inflationary measures, it is projected that more customers would flock to USC stores to take advantage of lower pricing than the open market, boosting USC sales.
It’s worth noting that, given that USC’s whole network is outfitted with POS systems, each transaction is completely transparent and traceable. This is an important advance that will improve efficiency and control while also reducing the incidence of black marketing.
