PNS Shamsheer and PNS Azmat, as well as the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Ship Kolachi Port, were part of a Pakistan Navy flotilla that visited Doha, Qatar to participate in the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition (DIMDEX-22). Commander Logistics Rear Admiral Abid Hameed represented the Pakistan Navy during the expo.
The Pakistan Navy Flotilla was met by Defence Attaché of Pakistan in Qatar, Commodore Saqib Ilyas, and Commander Protocol & Organization QENF Brigadier Salim Ahmed upon arrival at Doha port, according to a news statement released by the Directorate General Public Relations Navy. During their stay in port, the Flag Officer and Mission Commander, as well as the Commanding Officers of PN ships, met with a number of dignitaries, including the Fleet Commander of the Qatari Emiri Naval Force, the Commander of the Qatari Coast Guards, the Commander of the Kuwaiti Navy, the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Armed Forces, the Commander of the Azerbaijani delegation, and the Commander of the Iranian Naval Forces.
During the meetings, topics of mutual interest were covered, and the need of strengthening bilateral ties in all areas was reaffirmed. Taking advantage of the occasion, Flag Officer sent Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi’s best wishes.
Pakistan and Qatar have developed strong bilateral defence ties over the years as a result of several naval partnerships and exercises. The PN Flotilla’s visit to Qatar will boost bilateral ties and improve naval collaboration and interoperability with the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces.
