Balochistan Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana ordered the desalting of Hanna Lake’s main canal as soon as possible on Sunday in order to promote canoeing.
He made this command during a visit to Hanna Lake’s Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy (HDWSA), the province’s first and only International Canoeing and Rowing Olympic sports training institution.
Hayatullah Khan Durrani, the founder of HDWSA, commended the Chief Secretary for his efforts to promote the sport.
He also spoke to the Chief Secretary about the importance of the institution, emphasizing that the Pakistan Canoe and Kayak Federation holds 37 yearly programs there.
“National canoe and rowing players are trained here under the supervision of certified coaches in accordance with the International Canoe Federation (ICF) criteria,” Hayatullah stated.
He also asked Mathar Rana to be the primary guest at the next canoeing sports event.
Hanna Lake is Pakistan’s sole and only International Canoeing and Rowing Center. The last water sports events on the lake were held in December 2021.
