According to a statement issued by the Saudi embassy in Karachi, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has eased travel restrictions for Umrah pilgrims.
Male pilgrims under the age of 40 can go to Saudi Arabia without their families for Umrah, while female pilgrims under the age of 45 can travel to Saudi Arabia without a mahram, according to the official handout (male guardian).
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has previously issued regulations for women coming to Mecca without male guardians. A woman who wishes to travel without a mahram (male guardian) can get an Umrah visa if she is at least 45 years old, according to the Saudi authorities.
Local travel agents would also be required to form a women-only organization for the purpose, according to the government.
When undertaking the trek, ladies under the age of 45 were also required to be accompanied by a mahram.
