The International Cricket Council has named Babar Azam, Pakistan’s all-round captain, as the player of the month for March 2022. (ICC). Babar was selected player of the month, beating out Pat Cummins and Kraigg Brathwaite for the honour.
During the past month, Babar has been outstanding for the Men in Green in all three formats. While his Test exploits against Australia did not yield a favourable result, his player of the series effort in the three-match ODI series helped Pakistan to a historic series victory against the Kangaroos.
During the past month, the 27-year-old has played three Tests in the series against Australia. He finished the series as the third-highest run scorer with 390 runs batted in at an average of 78.00. In the fourth innings of the second Test at National Stadium Karachi, he performed one of the greatest innings in Test cricket history, saving the match for Pakistan with a spectacular innings of 196.
He scored a half-century and a century in the two One-Day Internationals he played this month. In total, the elegant batsman scored two century and three half-centuries in seven innings in both formats. In 5 matches and 7 innings, Babar scored 561 runs at an average of 80.14.
