Attaullah Tarar, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), warned on Monday that investigations would be launched into former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar and others for accumulating assets outside of their recognised sources of income during the PTI government.
Mr Tarar told a press conference in Islamabad that the PML-N had decided to file a petition with the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment against Mr Buzdar and others.
“During his time as chief minister, Buzdar amassed assets worth Rs10 billion. Mr Tarar stated that “he stripped the underprivileged masses of their rights and abused national resources.”
He stated that the PTI stole the country’s money over the last four years while its chairman aided Mr Buzdar, Farah Gogi, and others.
Mr Tarar also stated that the PML-N would investigate the alleged laundering of public funds by Imran Khan, Usman Buzdar, Bushra Bibi, and Farah Gogi.
He said that the tax amnesty policy of former Prime Minister Imran Khan benefited Farah Gogi to the tune of Rs320 million. Farah also made millions of rupees from government officer transfers and postings. He went on to say that she had been governing Punjab through Banigala. — APP
From Lahore, a Staff Reporter adds: Before raising allegations against the former chief minister, former provincial information minister and PTI Punjab spokesman Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said the PML-N leaders should respond to the FIA’s investigation into their Rs16 billion corruption.
Mr Chohan said the PTI will answer in detail when the PML-N filed a formal complaint with the Anti-Corruption Establishment, in response to Mr Tarar’s press conference on Monday.
