Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori feels that Babar Azam, Pakistan’s all-round skipper, is the finest batter in the world right now.
While there are numerous world-class batters on the tour right now, according to Vettori, no one is better than Babar, who has consistently performed in all three formats of the game over the last few years.
In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Vettori stated that Babar’s outstanding efforts in the current series against Australia made him the top batter in the world.
Babar, who is the only batter in the world to be ranked in the top ten in all three forms, has been nothing short of incredible in recent years. In all three forms, he has been outstanding for the Men in Green, and his latest heroics in the series against Australia have been lauded by the cricketing community.
The flashy batsman hit 196 in the fourth innings of the second Test between Pakistan and Australia, saving the match for Pakistan from loss.
In the three-match ODI series, the world number one ODI and T20I batsman followed up with two centuries and one half-century. His outstanding effort won him Player of the Series honours as he guided his team to a 2-1 series victory.
