In a Group B match of League A in the UEFA Nations League, Portugal defeated Switzerland 4-0 at home, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice.
Ronaldo put up a fantastic performance, scoring two goals in the game to bring his total to 117 international goals. The Manchester United striker continued to be the top scorer in international matches.
After a freekick, midfielder William Carvalho knocked the ball into the netting for Portugal’s first goal in the 15th minute.
The 37-year-old Ronaldo then scored twice in the 35th and 39th minutes to put his club in a comfortable lead before the halftime break.
Following excellent work from teammate Bernardo Silva, Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo made it 4-0 by sending the ball past the onrushing Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobell and into the empty net.
Portugal had previously drawn 1-1 with Spain in their first encounter of the UEFA Nations League.
