PM puts an immediate halt to unlawful FED at airportsThe illicit collection of Federal Excise Duty of 50,000 rupees from travellers at airports has drawn the stern attention of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He strongly objected to the collection of federal excise duty and ordered that the illegal order to do so at airports be immediately withdrawn. He also ordered that the practise of upsetting travellers cease immediately.
The federal excise duty collection was also the subject of an investigation authorised by the prime minister.
He said that the manner in which the excise charge was collected from passengers without the cabinet’s consent should be looked into.
Shehbaz Sharif gave the Finance Minister the directive to take strict legal action against individuals accountable for the illegal behaviour following an early investigation. He declared that individuals who caused the passengers’ misery lacked the right to hold office.
The federal excise charge was paid by the passengers, and the prime minister requested that the finance minister give the money back to them. Shehbaz Sharif demanded that his directives be carried out right away and that a report be submitted following prosecution of the guilty parties.
