ISLAMABAD: Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique announced a 30% cut in railway charges on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The minister made the comment during a press conference held today at Railway Headquarters in Lahore.
“During Eid days, railway rates will be reduced by 30%, and Pakistan Railways employees will now receive their salaries on time,” he said, adding that Pak Railways pensioners will also be paid on time.
“The ML-1 project was supposed to be completed in six years, but it took nine years due to the incompetence of the previous PTI government,” Rafique said. Because the PTI failed to start building on ML-1, he indicated that the project would be modified by the incoming coalition government.
Rafique assured that Pakistan Railway would be restored as soon as possible.
Khawaja Saad Rafique, a former Minister of Railroads, was appointed into Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet on April 19 and given responsibility for railways and aviation.
Railways Minister Saad Rafique announced on Wednesday, shortly after taking office, that the Thal Express between Multan and Rawalpindi will be resumed after a two-year absence.
