According to a Punjab government spokesperson, the Punjab cabinet has decided that all ministers will purchase the fuel for their cars.
Provincial government spokesperson Attaullah Tarar stated that all ministers will pay for gasoline from their own pockets. “The government has canceled Fuel Quota of Government Officer” he added.
In an interview with the media, he stated that more targeted subsidy programs will be implemented for people’s relief, and that “people’s money will only be spent on people.”
“The government has decided not to buy any new vehicles, nor will the money be spent for renovation in all government offices,” the provincial spokesperson said, elaborating on the government’s austerity measures.
Tarar stated that wheat flour has been reduced in price and has requested that bread prices be reduced.
“We have met our procurement target of five million tons of wheat and taken steps to reduce flour smuggling, while price control magistrates have also been established in the province,” he added.
“This is not the first time such revolutionary steps have been taken by PM Shehbaz Sharif,” he added.
