With its new Ioniq 5, Hyundai Motor Co. is able to outperform the typical EV. The car has a maximum power output of 3.6 kilowatts, which is sufficient for refrigerators and stoves.
Hyundai claims to be the first major electric vehicle manufacturer to offer two-way charging, which allows customers to use the car’s battery to power other electrical devices.
While standard car batteries can charge computers and phones, they quickly drain when used to power heavy items like a mobile fridge or music system, necessitating the installation of a second drummer or the transport of heavy, noisy generators.
The Ioniq 5 can also be fitted with a solar panel roof to charge the battery pack, giving it a range of up to 200 kilometres.
