Mohammad Yasir of Pakistan won gold in the Imam Reza Cup’s Javelin Throw event, becoming only the second Pakistani to do so in the tournament’s two-year history.
In the previous edition of the event, Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal. Due to a shoulder ailment, Arshad will not be competing this year.
Mohammad Yasir followed in Arshad’s footsteps by winning the gold medal with a 74.83-meter throw, just a metre short of his personal best of 75.35 metres.
In the Javelin Throw competition, Yasir’s efforts helped Pakistan win its second gold medal of the competition. Earlier in the day, Shajar Abbas earned the gold medal in the 200m dash, while Mueed Baloch, another sprinter, took silver.
