Syed Aminul Haq, the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, has announced the establishment of an IT park in Karachi, and a piece of land worth Rs31 billion has been purchased for the project from the Civil Aviation Authority near Karachi airport.
“Plots in the IT park will be available at significantly cheaper rates to encourage as many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as possible to establish their firms, which will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and all IT-related facilities,” the minister added.
During his visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he spoke at a meeting with traders (KCCI).
Financial and technological consultants applauded the decision.
“This will allow our SMEs to grow at a faster rate, which is critical given not just our current economic circumstances but also the general world situation,” said Saad Gadit, co-founder of Savyour.
“This stage will aid in the creation of an efficient ecosystem, which occurs when like-minded people with similar goals join together.” It also aids in model and information sharing, resulting in a much bigger number of beneficiaries.”
