Mohammad Abbas of Pakistan, who plays for Hampshire, took his first five wickets of the County Championship season against Gloucestershire at the Ageas Bowl.
Abbas, who bowled with great line and length, finished with a 6-45 to help Hampshire restrict Gloucestershire to 179 runs and take a 163-run lead.
Abbas began the inning with a remarkable seven-over stint of 4 for 16 runs, taking the wicket of opening hitter George Scott while he was on 9 runs, and then shelling James Bracey at third slip first ball.
Miles Hammond, who gave a routine catch to Ben Brown and then caught van Buuren leg before the wicket on the eve of lunch, was bowled by the pacer who had sent three Gloucestershire batters out without scoring.
He then completed his five-wicket haul with a short ball to Goodman, who was caught behind the stumps, and Mohammad Amir, who was caught at second slip with a fine edge.
Pakistani pacers have been in fantastic form in the ongoing County Championship 2022, putting in outstanding performances for their respective teams. Abbas, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah, and Haris Rauf are all in excellent shape.
Hasan Ali, who has 23 wickets and is the leading wicket-taker in the 2022 County Championship Division 1, was recently honoured by his franchise, Lancashire CCC, with the Player of the Month Award.
