Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has urged Shan Masood to return to the national side following a strong run of form in the present County Championship.
Shan has showed exceptional effort and discipline in refining his technique, according to Hafeez, and there is no doubt that he should be a member of Pakistan’s squads in all forms.
Shan should also be considered for the limited-overs squad, according to the former captain, because his white-ball game has vastly improved. Shan’s inclusion in the T20 setup was also backed by Hafeez, who believes he would be valuable in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
“I felt certain Shan Masood would compete in the County Championship.” His dedication and technique have amazed me. Shan Masood’s performance should be used by the PCB selection committee, and he should be adjusted across all three formats of the game for Pakistan,” Hafeez said.
Shan last played for Pakistan on their tour of New Zealand in early 2021. Since then, he has been left out of the national team. Imam-ul-Haq was preferred as a first-choice opener despite being in the Test squad against Australia.
Recently, the 32-year-old has been in the best shape of his life. In the just concluded seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he finished as the third best run-scorer and has continued his outstanding form in the ongoing County Championship.
He’s hit 50 runs in each of his last five innings, including two double-centuries. With 671 runs scored at an average of 134.20 in 5 innings, he is the championship’s leading run scorer.
