The National Security Committee (NSC) claimed on Friday that the overthrow of the PTI-led government was not the result of a foreign conspiracy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over the NSC meeting, which addressed in detail the telegraph received from the Pakistan Embassy in Washington, according to a news release released by the PM Office.
Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, the former Pakistani ambassador to Washington, also informed the group on the context of his diplomatic cable.
“The NSC, after reviewing the contents of the communication, reaffirmed the decision of the previous NSC meeting,” the statement added. The NSC was once again assured by the top security agencies that no proof of a conspiracy had been discovered.
“As a result, the NSC believes that there was no foreign conspiracy after evaluating the contents of the letter, the evaluation received, and the conclusions offered by the security agencies.”
