Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand are scheduled to play a T20I series as part of their preparations for the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022, according to sources.
Prior to the start of the big event, the tri-series is expected to take place in New Zealand. The three sides are now in negotiations, according to sources close to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), with a definitive decision likely soon.
Pakistan has already booked seven Twenty20 Internationals against England at home in September. The 2022 World Cup will begin on October 16 in Australia, leaving only a little window for the tri-series to be held in New Zealand.
Bangladesh is hosting Ireland for one Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is in September, while New Zealand has no international obligations during that time.
As they prepare for the huge event down under, the Men in Green will hope to incorporate the tri-series in their itinerary. Pakistan will be out to avenge their previous edition’s semi-final loss to Australia and capture their first T20 World Cup championship since 2009.
