Pakistan Railways will outsource 24 more trains in the near future in order to make the organization viable and expand it on a long-term basis.
This was revealed at a high-level meeting on Friday at Railways Headquarters, which was chaired by federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique. The meeting was called to propose a business strategy to the minister in order to increase the organization’s earnings.
While remarking on the idea to outsource more trains, the Minister instructed the staff to make the bidding process more transparent. He proposed that only one train be outsourced at a time. He also requested that while entering into an outsourcing contract, he keep the ups and downs in fuel prices in mind.
The Minister ordered that best practices from worldwide railway systems be researched and used in order to make the institution profitable.
