In December of this year, Pakistan Railways will begin receiving the first batch of 230 new passenger coaches from China, according to Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation Saad Rafique.
According to Pakistan Railways, these coaches are pleasant, fitted with the newest amenities, and capable of traveling at a speed of 160 km/h.
To update its fleet, Pakistan Railways decided to buy 820 freight vans and 230 high-speed passenger coaches in November 2020.
According to a Pakistan Railways spokeswoman, the carriage factory in Islamabad would produce 184 contemporary passenger coaches in the second phase after procuring 46 in the first.
According to the spokesperson, each passenger coach will include 80 compartments for air-conditioned and economy class, 30 parlor cars, and 20 vans for luggage and brakes.
He also said that 620 of these bogies would be prepared at the factory in addition to 200 freight vans being imported.
