The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) became interested in the famous singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan when it learned that he had many hidden bank accounts with a combined value of more than Rs60 million.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan reportedly has a month to pay the Rs. 43 million tax that the FBR has assessed against him. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said he only had accounts in two banks, however, the FBR found that he has multiple hidden accounts.
According to sources, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s covert bank accounts had more than Rs60 million that the Intelligence and Investigation and Land Revenue had been able to locate.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was contacted by FBR to explain the transactions, but after not obtaining a sufficient response, it ordered him to pay Rs43 million in taxes within a month.
