Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of development projects in Gwadar, claiming that the previous government did not prioritize the completion of the city’s international airport, among other projects.
He claimed that due to a reduction in-depth, large cargo ships could not anchor at the deep-sea port here and that the previous government did not conduct dredging at the port, which had now silted up and was no longer capable of receiving large ships.
During his daylong visit to Gwadar on Friday, the Prime Minister made these remarks at the inauguration of the Eastbay Expressway and the groundbreaking of seven development projects. He expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work on ongoing development projects in Gwadar, claiming that the airport’s foundation was laid in 2017, but it remained unfinished five years later. He directed the planning and development minister to take all necessary steps to complete the projects on time.
