Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the federal government hiked the pricing of petroleum items with a sad heart.
Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony for seven development projects in Gwadar, said his predecessor Imran Khan had laid a trap for his government by lowering petroleum prices after determining that the no-confidence vote against him would succeed.
He slammed the previous government, claiming that the Imran Khan-led government never granted wheat or sugar subsidies. “We tried our hardest not to put an additional burden on the people,” he added, adding that the debt had risen due to the previous administration’s actions.
Shehbaz Sharif went on to say that the country’s gas reserves are limited, and that the majority of them are decreasing. “We are primarily reliant on outside sources to meet our energy demands,” he added, adding that the government has no choice but to take harsh measures.
