In a Women’s One-Day International, Sidra Ameen and Muneeba Ali set a new record for the biggest opening partnership by a Pakistani combination. As they hammered the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the field, the duo became the first Pakistani opening combo to achieve a century opening stand in a Women’s ODI.
Nahida Khan and Javeria Khan previously held the record for the best opening stand, scoring 97 runs against England in 2019.
In the second ODI, Sidra and Muneeba attacked the Sri Lankan bowlers, putting on a record-breaking partnership of 158 runs when Muneeba was caught for 56 runs.
Sidra has been particularly impressive in the innings, despite the fact that both batters have shown their class. She has now scored 782 runs off 102 balls in ODI cricket, which is her fifth half-century in the format. Muneeba, on the other hand, just needed 100 balls to score 56 runs before returning to the pavilion.
The duo laid the groundwork for the remainder of the incoming batters, allowing Pakistan to post a massive total. Pakistan will win the series and extend its lead at the top of the ICC Women’s Championship with a win.
