On June 14 (Tuesday), the Sindh Government will present the provincial budget for FY2022-23, which includes a proposed increase in government employee salaries.
The provincial government has proposed increasing the salaries of government employees by 10% to 25%, according to budgetary proposals.
According to sources, The Sindh government is also considering revising the pay scale for employees in Grades 1-5, and the Sindh government has decided to combine adhoc allowance with the basic salary. The finance ministry has proposed salary increases for Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The final decision on salary increases for government employees would be made in a cabinet meeting, they added. The provincial government intends to include Rs32 billion in the district development budget as well. It has also been debated whether to include new schemes in 18 departments to reduce the budget by Rs18 billion.
The Sindh government has also proposed an allocation of Rs18.509 billion for the health sector and Rs27.449 billion for education, an increase of Rs9 million in the former’s budget. The government has proposed no increases in allocations for the information technology, transportation, and agriculture sectors.
