According to the Sindh government, the first floating solar power plant in Pakistan will be constructed on Keenjhar Lake Thatta.
Details indicate that Sindh Sheikh Imtiaz Ahmed, the energy minister, has announced plans to erect a 500 MW floating solar power plant on Keenjhar lake. The first floating solar power plant in Pakistan will be this one.
The project’s letter of intent (LOI) has been released even though authorities are still determining whether it is feasible. The energy ministry is optimistic that the project will quickly receive all clearances and be operational in two years.
The project is now being worked on by a company called GO, which is expected to cost $400 million.
The energy minister met with representatives from the power firm and informed them that the renewable energy project would generate 500 MW of eco-friendly electricity. He stated that the initiative would boost Keenjhar Lake’s tourist appeal while also creating jobs.
