Vegetable prices have nearly doubled nationwide with Eid-ul-Azha just around the corner.
Due to retailers charging their own prices rather than adhering to the official price list published by the government, the cost of basic vegetables has soared.
In Lahore, the cost of an onion ranges from Rs 80 to Rs 110, while the cost of a kilogramme of tomatoes has increased from Rs 100 to Rs 140.
Lemons and garlic, two additional often used veggies during Eid ul Adha, have also increased in price. Garlic is available for between Rs 250 and Rs 300 per kilogramme, while lemons cost Rs320 per kg.
Additionally, a bunch of coriander is now being offered for Rs20, while the cost of green chillies has soared to Rs120 per kg.
It should be mentioned that Pakistan will observe Eid ul Adha on July 10. (Sunday).
